About the painting:
"You have never understood who I am: I am love, pleasure, essence. I'm a bitch, a alcoholic, I am tenacious, I am a painter. I'm just who I am. And you, who are you? " F.K.
This naked woman, surrounded by lush vegetation and animals, refers to women who - like Frida - are free. This character for me is very confident and sure of himself, despite the absence of clothing. The black roses represent the fragility and hardness of life. The glass referes to alcoholism, but also to temptations of life, to vices. The reflection in the glass represents the image she has of herself and her habit of looking at himself in the mirror to create his self-portraits. Birds represent the family (the children she always wanted to have) and that she never succeeded. Lemon is a fruit with a sweet and tangy aroma, with a delicate flower, with hard bark and juicy pulp: Moreover reputed to scare evil spirits and this in different cultures. The lemon tree evokes the desire to share in writing its feelings, which Frida often did.
