About the painting:
"My night feeds on imaginary echoes. She, she can. Me, I fail. My night is watching me. His eyes are smooth and flowing in every thing. My night would like you to be there to to flow in you too with tenderness." F.K.
I drew a young, beautiful and sensual woman, the empty gaze (blinded by love), surrounded by snakes. The snake is found as a symbol in different traditions; it can symbolize deception and wisdom, the forces of nature, up and down. Gardenias on her head sublimate the feminine beauty. The apple can symbolize good (love, youth, beauty) but also evil (sin, lust, discord) through this famous name of "forbidden fruit". I feel love in the life of Frida as something very contradictory, her relationship with Diego Rivera was vital and very dangerous.
